PleurX® Drainage System

The PleurX™ catheter system provides effective at-home palliation of symptoms associated with recurrent pleural effusions and malignant ascites. This clinically proven treatment option allows patients to manage their symptoms through intermittent drainages in the comfort of their homes with minimal physician intervention.

Description

Equipping patients to manage effusions and ascites at home.

The PleurX™ system helps patients manage recurrent pleural effusions and malignant ascites at home. The system includes an indwelling catheter and vacuum bottles that allow patients to drain fluid quickly, effectively and safely. We also provide support for patient education and training.

Patients suffering from recurrent pleural effusions and malignant ascites have faced extended hospitalisation, discomfort and time away from home with unscheduled visits to a physician’s office or ER to relieve the pain and discomfort of fluid build-up. Patients now have an option that can allow them to take control of their symptoms in the comfort of their home.

The PleurX catheter system consists of a tunneled catheter, usually placed as an outpatient procedure, and vacuum drainage bottles that allow patients or their caregivers to drain their own recurrent pleural effusions or malignant ascites in the comfort of their own homes.

This helps eliminate the need for hospital visits for repeat paracentesis or thoracentesis. With the PleurX catheter system, you can help your patients spend more time at home and less time fitting into your procedural schedule.
